Lorraine and Ken Gazzard 2016 Shining Light Award Recipients

Well-known local business owners and community members Lorraine and Ken Gazzard received a Shining Light Award in 2016. The Gazzard family has had a long association with Tenison Woods College and its predecessor schools for several decades, with their six children, and 11 of their 14 grandchildren attending the school. Lorraine’s work as part of the former Mother’s club and Parents and Friends committee played a pivotal part in fundraising for the development of the hall. Jessica Braithwaite 2016 Shining Light Award Recipient

While at school at St Paul’s Jessica Braithwaite was school captain in Year 7 and was involved in debating and public speaking when she reached Tenison College. She’s since gone on to complete a double degree in Journalism and International studies and pursue a career in the media. Her desire to give back to those less fortunate saw her volunteer in orphanages overseas and she also continues to dabble in music on the side. Take a look at Jessica’s journey so far.

Tony Pasin 2016 Shining Light Award Recipient

Tony Pasin attended St Paul’s and Tenison College and went on to graduate from university with degrees in law and economics. After returning to Mount Gambier, he opened his own legal practice and represented local farmers, residents and businesses. Now married and a father of two, Tony has always believed in standing up for his local community, which led him to serve as a councillor with the City of Mount Gambier between 2003 and 2010. He was elected as the Federal Member for Barker in 2013 and considers himself an advocate for the people to ensure that the views of local communities throughout the electorate are heard in the Federal Parliament. Eric Roughana 2016 Shining Light Award Recipient

To say that Shining Light Award recipient Eric Roughana is community minded is certainly an understatement. At 90 years old, Eric is a former Marist Brother and has played a pivotal role in the timber industry, church, local sporting clubs, community groups and organisations such as Lions, Boandik Lodge and TAFE just to name a few. His community contributions are inspiring. Take a look at his journey in his own words.

Cristina D'Agostino 2016 Shining Light Award Recipient

Talented performer Cristina D'Agostino is a Shining Light recipient in 2016. Cristina attended St Paul’s Primary School, Tenison College and Tenison Woods College, and for all those who knew her throughout that time, it was pretty clear that her path as a performer was already set. She began dancing and performing from the age of three, regularly participated in eisteddfods and dance competitions all over the country, in addition to drama performances at school. She went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts Music Theatre from the University of Ballarat in 2008 and has since appeared in nine musical stage shows. Take a look at some of her experiences.
