The Academy of Hospitality offers a diverse range of opportunities for students from Year 9 into the world of work from the perspective of the hospitality industry. 

Academy of Hospitality

The Academy of Hospitality provides students with an introduction to hospitality through practical experiences in catering activities, work placements and closely mentored lessons. Students work in the Sugarloaf Café serving clients to industry standards both in commercial kitchen and front of house serving environments, catering for a number of internal and external functions and school events as well as the day to day production needs of the Café.

Students enrolled in the Academy of Hospitality will  gain VET accreditation in Certificate 2 Hospitality to Australian Quality Standards through provider AIET. Course units include Occupational Health and Safety, Prepare and Present Sandwiches, Non-Alcoholic Beverages, Barista Skills, Cultural Sensitivity and Working in Teams.

Course Information and Qualifications

  • Students can enter the Academy of Hospitality in Year 9, 10 or 11
  • Duration of Certificate Studies: 2 years
  • Hours based accreditation of SACE points per semester
  • Course cost: $195 per year + $65 for industry uniform
  • Pathways are available to Certificate III in Hospitality
