In the morning we visited the Pope John Paul 2 statute. We were lucky to get in as they are working at the moment to prepare all main tourist attractions for the up and coming popes visit. Both groups have been unable to visit the Cristo Rei in Dili because of this.
After the statue, we had a quick look around the Tais market, got a few gifts then drove onto Dare. The drive up was fun, and the views of Dili were spectacular. The video at the museum was narrated by Kitty Sword and told the story of Australia's involvement in Timor during World War 2. It was very informative and sad when the soldiers were not allowed to take their new friends who had saved their lives back to Australia.
After lunch at the orphanage and a short rest we were ready for the beach! To finish off a great day, we went out for dinner at the Pro-Ema Restaurant. The restaurant is a training school for young woman who have left bad relationships from domestic and sexual abuse, the meals were all amazing and the deserts were some of the best we have ever eaten.
