Today started with a beautiful breakfast and coffee. Owen was also looking very furak kappas today. After breakfast we headed to the resistance museum, it was a sobering experience that reminds that there is more beyond the surface of what we are shown as they have a quiet troubling history and have experienced great hardship.
We then headed to the Santa Cruz Cemetery where we got to see first hand just a portion of the loss this country experienced during the Indonesian occupation. We also learned about the story of how footage from the massacre that took place at Santa Cruz cemetery manage to be seen by the world by being smuggled out by some very brave people.
Our spirits were lifted though when we got to the presidential palace to serve lunch to the people who need it most. We also got to have a quick chat with the president where Mrs Fisher reminded him of the dinner invitation she received last trip. After looking at his calendar he generously invited the group to dinner next Thursday.
We then explored a beautiful art gallery full of amazing paintings and cool sculptures. After a little pit stop back at the orphanage we then headed down to the beach to cool off and unwind for a little bit. Although, Lachy did dive directly onto a rock. Other than that little mishap it was a nice relaxing time with us eventually using the paddle boats.
Once we got back to the orphanage, we then cleaned up and played piggy in the middle with the children and even one of the sisters. After a while a truck pulled up and Owen had to show his strength and unload all the big boxes at the end.
