Today, we had the chance to sleep in and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the Bakita Centre. We spent the morning down at the beach, admiring the beautiful water and having fun throwing rocks.
Later, we took a short drive to the Indonesian border. Eddie spoke with the Indonesian military, who kindly allowed us to take a photo across the border and even joined in for a group photo, which made it extra special. Afterward, we visited a local market where we browsed stalls and treated ourselves to some of our favourite mango juice and ice cream. In the afternoon, we had time to rest and recharge.
In the evening, we welcomed Father, the Sisters, first-year seminary students, and community members for a Mass. Father’s homily included part of Bakita’s story, touching on themes of humility and forgiveness. Afterward, there were heartfelt speeches and the giving of tais. We ended the night with joyful dancing, even in the very hot ("manas los") conditions an evening full of laughter, warmth, and community spirit.
