What is XenDesktop?

citrix-remote_topband

XenDesktop is a flexible ‘virtual computer’ experience that provides a Windows desktop to users. It allows users to login from a device and see a 'normal' computer screen from almost anywhere.

The virtual desktop operates from a large central pool of available 'sessions' located on the school’s servers, which students and staff can easily connect to from school computers, BYOD etc..

The main components are:

  • A School, BYO or home device, with the Citrix workspace installed
  • A connection to the schools servers - WiFi when at TWC, or internet at home
  • A current school login, entered at the Xen access portal

To connect to Xen, a small 'Citrix Workspace' program must first be installed on your device. There are different receivers for most computer and tablet types, including Windows, Mac, iPad and Android.
