Titans USA Basketball trip

07.02.18

The group of 38 athletes and 9 ‘highly’ qualified coaches and staff left the mainland down-under on the 27 November 2017 on a direct route to the city of Angels, Los Angeles, California. Not every day you get to say that! This was a common occurrence over the course of the trip as students took quite a while to come to terms with the magnitude of the tour. Over the length of the tour we played approximately nine games, differing for each team, this gave us a great opportunity to really immerse ourselves in the school life and culture of young Americans. Along with the Basketball matches, we were fortunate enough to visit some world famous places, places such as Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, Disneyland, Universal Studios, California Adventure Park, the Seattle Mariners Baseball field, Fisherman’s Warf, Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood Boulevard, Seattle Music Museum, Seattle Space Needle, Gonzaga University, Washington state University, Pearl Harbor (USS Arizona) and a little place called Hawaii. Along the course of the trip we also had the opportunity to roam the streets of Seattle and Spokane, Washington as well as Sacramento, San Francisco, California and many small country towns that we stopped in or played in. For many the highlight of the trip was either the few days in Hawaii, sunbaking on Waikiki beach or lying in the snow and having snow fights at the Snoqualmie Pass in between Seattle and Spokane. But if you to ask any individual on the trip what their personal highlight would be, their answers would all be different, however everyone would share the same opinion that this was a trip no one will ever forget.
