Year 12 Retreat

The 2018 year began with the Year 12’s spending three days at Cape Bridgewater exploring the theme ‘The Road of Life’. Students and staff worked in both large and small groups discussing, praying and reflecting on the priorities in their lives during this final year of schooling, and where the future might take them. They also enjoyed getting to know one another better and participated in some fun activities organised and led by the school captains Evangelia Wichmann and Daniel Ker. Old scholars from the 2016 Year 12 Cohort, Jakobus Wichmann, Imogen Harkness and Morgan Fisher, helped lead the retreat offering wisdom and advice for Year 12 and beyond.

A highlight of the retreat was having Fr. Dean join us for dinner and mass on Thursday night and we thank him for making the retreat a priority in his busy schedule. The Year 12’s have now returned to school and we wish them well for the year ahead.

Whole School Mass

The Beginning of Year Whole School Mass will be held at Marist Park on Thursday 8 February at 9:00am. All parents and friends are welcome to attend. BYO Chair and hat.

Project Compassion

During Lent each year, Caritas Australia holds the Project Compassion appeal. Project Compassion boxes are available for all families and will be distributed by the youngest family member’s home group teacher. These can be returned to the College or Church Office by the end of the term. Families are encouraged to think of ways to support this appeal and students will be involved in fundraising at the College.

Shrove Tuesday

Pancakes are traditionally served on the Tuesday before Lent begins which historically was an opportunity for households to use up luxury items before the season of Lent began. Pancakes will be available on Tuesday for $1.00. Money raised will go to Project Compassion.

Ash Wednesday

All students will attend Ash Wednesday liturgies in year levels on Wednesday 14 February.  As this is a holy day of fasting and prayer, there will be no meat served in the Canteen or Sugarloaf café.

Family Mass & Sacramental Information

Please note that the Family Masses will now be held on the 4th Sunday of the month at 11:00am rather than the 1st Sunday as in previous years. The next Family Mass will be held on Sunday 25 February. Please contact Becky Higgins or Cisca Teodoro if you would like to be involved as a singer or a reader.

Liturgy of the Word for Children will be held on Saturday 17 February at 6:00pm and Sunday 18 February at 11:00am. It is a requirement for Sacramental candidates to attend one of these sessions. Siblings are welcome to join.

Due to Stational Mass at Naracoorte on Thursday 22 February, the next Family Session has been moved to Wednesday 21 February at 4.30-5.30pm OR 7.00pm-8.00pm at the Tenison Woods College Staffroom.

Youth Mass

There has also been a change to the Youth Mass time. The 5:00pm mass on the 4th Sunday of the month will no longer take place. Instead of this, the young people from the College and the parish will lead the music and the readings at 11:00am mass on the 3rd Sunday of each month.

Parish Mass

Mass is celebrated in the Tenison Woods College Chapel every Thursday at 9:00am during term time (please note the change of time from 9:15am). All members of the community are invited to attend. Each week the mass is attended and led by a different year level. The roster for the coming weeks is:

  • Week 3 - Thursday 15 February - Year 4
  • Week 4 - Thursday 22 February -  Year 10
  • Week 5 - Thursday 1 March - Year 5
  • Week 6 - Thursday 8 March - Year 8
