Teams - Audio/Video settings

17.04.2020

When you join a Teams meeting, there are some audio and video choices available.

Both the O365 and installed versions are similar, with the installed version having improved audio/video quality and more tools such as a microphone level meter for testing and the ability to blur your background.
The images below show the options available in the installed version.

After selecting to join a meeting, you will see the audio/video settings window.

Selecting 'Custom setup' will present extra settings to select available webcams or microphones, or make a test call to check they work correctly.

Once in the meeting, device settings can also be changed, as shown below.

If having audio problems, you can verify your microphone is working by watching the level meter increase when you speak.

Troubleshooting audio/video problems:

  • If using the web version, install the full teams program (link here) making sure to download teams for work or school
  • Ensure the correct microphone or camera is enabled on the Teams toolbar and are selected in device settings.
  • If using a headset, check there is not a separate volume or mute switch as part of the headset.
  • Make a test call, as shown in the image above.
  • Leave and rejoin the meeting, or restart your computer and retry.
