How to - Use the TWC USB docks

04.06.2021

Located in the Library and PRC IT Lab are the BYOD USB docks

These are used to plug in student BYOD laptops to use the school monitors and mice.

There are 3 types of dock, and they have important differences. Please read the following to decide which is the most suitable dock for your BYOD laptop.

TYPE A - Kensington SD2000P

  • Best for newer laptops - Needs a USB-C with 3.1 plug [see image]

In most cases this dock does not require any drivers or additional software to be installed. The dock should automatically detect when the USB cable has been plugged in and mirror your laptop screen to the monitor.

Please note after plugging in this may take 30 seconds to begin working.

If after this time you are still not seeing an image on the screen you can download and install the drivers here;

Press Accept to download these drivers.

Windows 10 / 8.1 / 8 / 7

Mac Mojave 10.14

The same process applies with this dock as the first one. In most cases this dock will work without any extra software or drivers.
