The Years 7–9 Mixed Hockey team recently competed in a knockout tournament, facing strong opposition in two competitive games.
Game 1: vs Keith Area School (0–2 Loss)
The Titans showed determination and resilience in a tough opening match against Keith. Despite the 2–0 loss, the team demonstrated solid defensive structure throughout the game. Taylor, Raia, and Samantha worked hard to contain the Keith attack, consistently cutting off key plays and limiting goal-scoring chances. In goals, Tage stood strong and made several crucial saves to keep the team in the contest.
In the second half, the Titans began to find more run and momentum. Malachi, Tyce, and Jensen linked up well and found space with the ball, putting pressure back on the Keith defense and shifting the game’s momentum.
Game 2: vs Grant High School (0–3 Loss)
While the scoreboard again didn’t fall in the Titans’ favour, their second match showed marked improvement. The team’s outletting and transition through the midfield improved significantly, thanks to the composure and skill execution of Ollie, Archie, Riley, and Seb. Their efforts helped create forward opportunities and allowed Kasthar and Evana to apply pressure in the attacking circle, challenging the Grant defense more frequently.
Although the team finished the day with two losses, there were many positives to take away. The Titans displayed fantastic camaraderie, resilience, and a willingness to learn. Each player contributed to the growth of the team, both in their individual skills and their understanding of game situations. The experience has no doubt helped the team take big strides forward in their hockey development.
A thank you to Taya, Aleisha, and Brayden for your coaching and management efforts.
Well done, Titans!
