04.06.25

Our Open Mixed Hockey team proudly represented the school in the recent School Knockout Competition, showing fantastic effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day.  Game 1 was a strong performance, with a 3-0 win against St Martins. Archie was a standout, scoring a hat trick and leading the team with confidence and strong attacking plays. Tahliah and Bryan and Noah worked tirelessly in the defence, reading the game well and constantly applying pressure to the St Martin forwards.

Game 2 was a tough challenge against Naracoorte High School resulting in a 9-1 loss. Our players showed impressive resilience and positive attitude right up to the final whistle. Toby scored a well-executed team goal, finishing off a clever pass from Louise, a great example of the teamwork that shone throughout the day. Lachy displayed relentless energy, supporting teammates and covering the field with determination. Lacey worked hard in defence, staying composed under pressure and making smart, well-timed clearances. Max, Rheyn and Henry combined well in attack, creating forward plays with sharp passing and great communication. Taya held strong in the midfield, showing impressive leadership and determination, constantly working to regain possession and drive the ball forward.

The day showcased many meaningful moments that reflected the personal development and teamwork of our students, embodying the spirit of Tenison Woods College.

Some special moments throughout the day included:
•    Ruby played her second-ever hockey game, bringing enthusiasm and courage to every contest.
•    Jeremy bravely took on the role of goalkeeper for the first time, meeting the challenge with commitment and a strong team-first attitude.
•    Ollie and Flynn competed in their first school hockey competition, showing great interest and a keen willingness to learn.

Students shared that the highlights of their day included bonding as a team, enjoying the beautiful weather, and taking pride in their teamwork, resilience, second efforts, and sportsmanship.

A big thank you to our PE trainee, Ava, for her support and encouragement on the day!
