Newsroom
As part of our Laudato Si’ Week celebrations at Tenison Woods College, students
in The Poplars have been actively embracing the spirit of sustainability and care
for our common home. At the heart of these efforts is the Pop Shop, a student-run initiative that showcases the creativity and environmental awareness of our school community. Students have been hard at work crafting unique, eco-friendly items made from recycled
plastic—giving new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste. These handmade products are available for purchase both within the school and in the broader Mount Gambier community, spreading the message of environmental responsibility beyond our gates. In addition to plastic creations, students are also honing their skills in woodworking, producing beautiful and meaningful items such as wooden crosses, serving boards, and decorative bowls. Each piece reflects the care, thoughtfulness, and craftsmanship of the students, while also promoting sustainable practices.
The Pop Shop is more than just a marketplace — it’s a testament to the values of stewardship, creativity, and action that define Tenison Woods College. We’re proud of our students for leading the way in living out the message of Laudato Si’ through hands-on, impactful projects. We invite members of the public and school community to visit the Pop Shop for thoughtful, sustainable gift ideas.
The shop is open on;
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 2:00–3:00pm;
and on Friday from 12:00–1:00pm.
Pop Shop products are also available for purchase at Green Door Decor on
Commercial Street, helping share our students’ work with the wider Mount
Gambier community.
