2023 College Captain - Aden Clarke

02.02.23

2023 is my final year as a student at Tenison Woods College in what has been an incredible journey of learning, friendship, and community. The College has been a second home to me and so it is more than a great privilege to stand alongside Gael and give back to this school as a College Captain.

I value being someone who is present, who listens, and who works hard within a community. I enjoy taking the time to be involved in initiatives such as the school breakfast club, working bees, attending Youth Groups, and volunteering at the local St Vincent de Paul store. I work at the Treehouse Adventure Centre as a part of an amazing team and am able to interact with and support children in developing confidence as they engage in fun activities.

Being school captain is an opportunity to work alongside student leadership teams, staff, and students in growing and nourishing the practices, events, and ideas which will continue to make this school community a place of learning, faith, and kindness.

In 2023, I believe it is especially important we come to acknowledge that every child at Tenison Woods College has a “gift”- a skill, practice, or passion which can be nurtured and developed. It is therefore my intention as College Captain to take part in the team of staff and student leaders who will put forth their ideas and insights to “grow the gifts” of each and every student for the benefit of their character and their future.

Once again, I am very grateful to represent Tenison Woods College alongside Gael and the rest of the junior, middle and senior leadership teams. These groups are comprised of hard-working and compassionate students who are supported by staff with similar qualities. I firmly believe we can strive to support both staff and students so we can all “grow our gifts, together” and ultimately ensure this school remains a place of friendship, respect, and love…

where every child can “Let their light shine.”
