Creative Arts Students Gain Insight Into Career Opportunities

16.06.21

On Tuesday, Year 9, 10 and 11 Digital Creative Arts students were lucky enough to chat with Mathew Mackereth, Senior Lighting Artist at Rising Sun Pictures. He spoke about his career to date and as a local growing up in Mount Gambier until he was 17. He was able to give true insight into how regional students can enter a growing industry. He explained all the different career paths that Rising Sun Pictures offers including concept art, riggers, pipeline directors, environment artists, compositors and lighting artists. There can be up to 200 employees working at Rising Sun Pictures at a time and roles start at a junior level where people can work their way up.

The students were given the opportunity to ask questions to be able to see the relevance of what they are studying at the College and how it can be an actual career. Mathew enforced the importance of having a great portfolio of work and being motivated, enthusiastic and keen in such a dynamic industry.
