Indigenous Jumper

09.06.21

The College is extremely excited to present a specially-designed Indigenous jumper! Representing Boandik ancestors, the longevity of the Boandik people and the Boandik Land which Tenison Woods College is on, the jumper is the result of a great collaboration of artwork design, knowledge sharing and learnings with Boandik students and community. The design also represents all families from across Boandik Mraat (Country).

The initiative was brought about from the College Sports department, keen to add an Indigenous jumper to the many sports in the local, regional and statewide competitions that students represent the College in. In approaching Matthew Brookes, local Boandik Descendant and Old Scholar, the idea became reality as students Noah, Ethan, Sam and Addison Sims and Chelsea and Georgia Ryan collaborated with artist, Belinda Bonney, and local footballer, Jordan Brennan.

These multipurpose tops will be worn by Year 7-12 students in both male and female sports. A fantastic initiative with an outstanding end result; well done to all involved!

Ian Ross | 7-12 Health and Physical Education Coordinator
