Open Cricket Country South State Champions

09.04.21

Our Open boy cricketers are the Twenty20 Country South State Champions! The Grand Final in Bordertown on Tuesday saw us face off against Upper South East, with our opposition batting first and setting the pace for the match. Upper South East started well and maintained good form through their innings, as they put up a strong total of 7-109 after their 20 overs.

After an impressive batting display we knew we had our work cut out for us. We aimed to hit the ground running following our determined bowling performance in the first innings. We showcased a great display of batting and resilience to withhold the powerful Upper South East bowling attack, as we scored the winning run in the last over to finish at 4-113 to claim the title of State Champions!

Captain Liam Turley accepted the championship shield and thanked all for a great game. A fantastic performance from our Open cricketers. Well done boys on an outstanding achievement!
