College Families Among 50 New Australian Citizens in the Region

17.02.21

It was a proud day for five Tenison Woods College families who received their Australian citizenship last month. Students and their families were presented with their Australian citizenship at the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre on Australia Day. For some it has been years of uncertainty, but all have had an abundance of determination and resilience during the journey of applying and receiving their citizenship.

While many of us take our citizenship for granted, it was a privilege to witness the happiness and joy of our most recent Australians as they received their certificate. The stability this offers as well as the possibility now of travelling back to visit families (when COVID safe) is undeniably precious for the families. We congratulate them all and pray that they always find peace, safety and hope in the land they have chosen to call home.

Congratulations to the following families for becoming Australian citizens:
• Esther Mbuyu (Year 3), Marie Onema (Year 5), Therese Pajanga (Year 6) and Desire Kinyamba (Year 7)
• Edel Dunne (ELC Educator) and Connor Dunne, parents to Sophie Dunne (Reception)
• David Kulimushi (Year 2), Eddy Kahorao (Year 5), Esaie Kulimushi (Year 6), Nadia Munguakwokwa (Year 12), Lidya Mungu-Ashuze (ELC Educator and 2020 Year 12 graduate)
• Mboyo Ndjeke (FLP), Astride Ndjeka (Year 12), Asunga Ndjeka (employed as a cleaner at the College)
• Lauren Jones (Year 5)
