Young Citizen Of The Year Awarded to Lily Irwin

Congratulations to new Year 7 student Lily Irwin who was awarded 2020 Young Citizen of the Year for the Glenelg Shire Council. Lily was presented with the award last week on Australia Day at Portland Civic Hall.

Lily received the award for 2020 after her exemplary work with education, the environment and health and wellbeing. She organised several clean-ups at her school last year which included the library, oval, bike shed and the school farm. She regularly volunteers for several organisations, including the State Library of Victoria, Kick Start and Landcare Victoria. She was also recognised as the 2019 Junior Landcare Award recipient, the 2019 National Volunteer of the Year Award recipient, as well as receiving a Fred Hollows Foundation Humanity Award last year.

We congratulate Lily on her achievements and look forward to her contribution and fresh ideas around Sustainability in our College community.
