Pope Francis established a World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, which takes place on the Sunday closest to the Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, the Grandparents of Jesus. He announced this day to celebrate the importance of grandparents to family life, and how grandparents and the elderly are a value and a gift both for society and for Church communities.
The MacKillop Junior School Grandparents and Grand-Friends afternoon will be taking place on Friday 25 July.
We ask that Grandparents and Grand-Friends gather in the Barrie Holmes Stadium at 2.00pm where tea and coffee will be available. Following a short prayer service, Grandparents and Grand-Friends will be guided to classrooms to visit their young people.
