Raine Claims Gold at SAPSASA

24.09.21

Raine Darimaani was the talk of the SAPSASA Athletics Championships at the SA Athletics stadium in Adelaide with her blistering speed in the 12 year old girls sprinting events. Raine thoroughly enjoyed her first opportunity of sprinting on a fast, synthetic running track. She has been training twice a week throughout Term 3, and achieved gold medals, and outstanding personal best times in the 100m (12.94) and 200m (26.74). Unfortunately, the windy and wet conditions were not ideal for breaking records but Raine was close to both sprint records, but particularly the 200m record of 26.40, which has been standing since 1976.

The Lower South East 4x100m relay team comprising of three Tenison Woods College students Raine, Maggie Collins and Mackenzie Burke just missed a medal (photo finish) after Raine stormed home in the anchor leg. An amazing spectacle for the cheering crowd!
