Subject Description
The course provides opportunities for students to develop and apply positive personal and social skills to establish and maintain respectful relationships while promoting fair play, resilience and inclusivity.
Sports Academy participants are expected to be committed to a high standard of performance and dedicated to developing their skills and knowledge within their chosen sport.
The course emphasizes fitness, coordination, and simple game play to reinforce skill acquisition in a fun and supportive environment.
Participants will work on:
- Passing and Catching Skills: Bounce pass, lob, and chest pass.
- Movement Skills: Directional footwork, sprinting, deceleration, and safe landing techniques.
- Attacking Skills: Double dodge, split/re-offer, creating and exploiting space.
- Defensive Skills: Defensive footwork, positioning, and intercepts.
- Shooting Skills: Basic shooting techniques and rebounding.

- Food and nutrition
- Health benefits of physical activity
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Relationships and online safety
- Alcohol and drugs
- Fundamental movement skills
- Games and sports
- Lifelong physical activities
Practical and theoretical assessments are based on Australian Curriculum Achievement Standards.
