Caritas K’s and Casuals for Compassion – Next Thursday

On Thursday April 11 we will be participating in the Caritas K’s and Casuals for Compassion. All students are invited to wear Casual clothes on the day and bring in a Gold Coin for their class Project Compassion box. All students will participate in the Caritas K’s walking event at various times during the day. Parents are invited to attend the official opening of the event at 10:00am on the Tenison Woods College oval and to join with the students doing some laps at any time during the day. The walk is a reminder to us all of the many communities around the world who are helped by Caritas and the many hours each day spent walking for water, food, education and health.

Thankyou to everyone who has joined the fundraising page and asked for donations. Check out the current school tally on our fundraising page https://lent.caritas.org.au/tenisonwoods

Distributing Eggs

Please keep in mind as we approach the Easter season that we are in Lent or Holy Week until Easter Sunday. Themes during this time are PRAYER, FASTING AND GIVING. On Easter Sunday we move into the joyful season of Easter which is 50 days of CELEBRATING.

The giving of Easter Eggs is discouraged until Easter when we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ. When considered in light of the school year, this means we would encourage students who would like to give something to their friends at school, to do so after the Easter break rather than before.

Project Compassion Fundraising

As we approach Easter, and Project Compassion draws to a close we thank ALL staff, students and families who have given generously to this appeal for Caritas through fundraising at school, in classes or in homes. Project Compassion boxes are to be returned to the College by the end of this term or to the Church or Parish Office over Easter and the School Holidays. We ask that all boxes are returned by the end of Term 1 to allow the donations to be sent to Caritas.

Anyone wishing to make an online donation or to donate what is in their Project Compassion box electronically please click here: https://lent.caritas.org.au/tenisonwoods

Masses for Holy Week and Easter

Please see the attached Holy Week and Easter timetable for all the parishes in the South East Deanery. We encourage all families to celebrate all our Holy Week and Easter ceremonies to deeply experience the saving presence of Christ among us.

Palm Sunday – Family Mass

This year, Palm Sunday is celebrated on 14 April, which the second Sunday of the month. Family Mass is normally celebrated on the fourth Sunday, however due to the school holidays we will have it on the Palm Sunday this year.

Please keep this date free as we would like to see as many children there as possible. Please let Rebecca Higgins at Tenison Woods College or Cisca Teodoro at the Parish Office know if your child would like to be involved.

Parish Mass

Mass is celebrated in the Tenison Woods College Chapel every Thursday at 9am during term time. All members of the community are invited to attend. Each week the mass is attended and led by a different year level.

The roster for the term is:

  • Week 10 – Thursday 4 April – Year 9 (please note the changed date)
  • Week 11 – Thursday 11 April – Year 12
