Year 8/9 Boys Cricket Team Reign as Knockout State Cricket Champions

03.04.19

The Tenison Woods College Year 8/9 Cricket team travelled to Bordertown on Wednesday 27 March to take on a combined Upper South East team, to contest the SSSA (School Sport SA) Statewide Knockout Championship – Country South.

Captain Liam Turley won the toss and sent the Upper South East in to bat. It was a rough start for the Titans, as our College boys managed to drop 6 consecutive catches! Finally, Harry Fisher got the breakthrough as he managed an impressive spell of off-spin bowling to have figures of 2/22 off his 7 overs. In the end, the Upper South East boys batted their 35 overs to finish on 80 runs. Hamish Case and Ollie Bennett bowled well for the Tenison team.

Ethan Sims and Liam Turley then opened the batting for Tenison Woods College and with the score on 10, Ethan lost his wicket. Hamish Case then strode to the crease. Both he and Turley then set about winning the title for the College. The two putting together a match winning partnership of 73 runs. Turley finished on 34 not out and Case finished on 28 not out. They reached the total set by the Upper South East Combined team with 11 overs to spare.

Tenison Woods College won the match by a whopping 9 wickets.

Well done to coaches Kieran Ashby and Brad Maney.
