Tenison Woods College farewell Japanese exchange students

03.04.19

Over the past 2 weeks Tenison Woods College has had the pleasure of hosting 11 students and 2 teachers from Calvary English School, Tokyo, Japan. Calvary English School has a long association with Tenison Woods College and have been bringing students on short term study tours for the past 18 years.

While here the Japanese students were ‘buddied up’ with students from our College and joined them in their classes.

The students were hosted by families from our College community and they thoroughly enjoyed our ‘easy going, laid back’ lifestyle. The students enjoyed experiencing a range activities: from visiting the beach, enjoying barbeques, interacting with animals on farms, playing board games with their host families and shopping. To see the student’s confidence, grow over this short time span was wonderful.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the host families for welcoming these wonderful students into your hearts and into your homes. It is a testament to your generosity and support that not one of the students showed any signs of homesickness. You made them all feel so comfortable and they have all felt a part of your family.

I would also like to thank Tenison Woods College staff, teachers and students. The teachers have welcomed the students into their classrooms by both helping and encouraging them to speak English and the students have all been so encouraging and inclusive during lesson time and in the year.

Thankyou everyone for your continued support.
