Hospitality Students Espresso themselves at Barista Course

03.04.19

Year 10 and 11 Academy of Hospitality students have been participating in the Certificate 2 Unit Prepare and Serve Espresso Coffee at the Mount Gambier TAFE Campus.

Students and staff from the Sugarloaf Café have learnt about the dynamics of blending and grinding beans, extraction techniques and milk texturing skills to produce a range of standard coffees from Macchiato to Cafe Latte, Americano to Mocha.

A highlight of the course has been for students to design their own hot chocolate drinks to taste like their favourite chocolate bars. Creations have included Cherry Ripe, Snickers, Caramel Popcorn and Turkish Delight.

We look forward to opportunities to use our newly acquired Barista skills at Tenison Woods College.
