Taste of Harmony Day Dinner

27.03.19

Last Thursday evening, members of the College community came together, shared a meal and enjoyed great conversations to celebrate our cultural diversity. It was a wonderful night with dishes representing many cultures, including Greek, Sri Lankan, Congolese, French, Pakistani, Australian and so much more. This cultural feast was certainly enjoyed by all those present.

It was also a time to acknowledge our Muslim brothers and sisters. College Principal David Mezinec read out Bishop Greg O'Kelly’s letter of support to the community - voicing our solidarity and condolences to those in Christchurch and beyond.

The following is the Harmony Day prayer, also read by David:

Dear God,

You created all people in your image.

We thank you for the astonishing variety of races and cultures in Australia and in our community.
Enrich our lives by ever-widening circles of friendship, and show us your presence in those who differ most from us.
Grant that we may always promote the justice and acceptance that ensures lasting peace and racial harmony.
Grant that we may show equal respect to all persons of different cultures that we may come across.
And help us to remember and appreciate that we are one country, with many stories.

Amen.

We are already looking forward to the 2020 Taste of Harmony Dinner!
