Celebrating Languages and Culture in the College Community

27.03.19

Next week we will celebrate ‘Languages Week’ and we would like to celebrate as many Languages spoken in our community as possible. We are hoping that Tenison Woods College community members who speak another language may like to share their language and culture with our students. We are hoping that they may feel comfortable enough to run a lunchtime language or cultural activity during week 10. This would give the opportunity for our students to hear, see and maybe even taste different cultures and make our Languages week an authentic Language and Cultural experience.

Ideas include:

  • Basic greetings/song lesson;
  • Demonstrating/running a cultural game for children;
  • An interactive presentation (Q and A style);
  • A craft session;
  • Photos/story of family history (possibly a migration or cultural story); and/or
  • A food experience.

If you are interested in running a session, please email Suzanne Pepe to make a time to have a chat about any of the above ideas or to suggest ideas of your own.

We would love to hear from you!
