Tenison Woods College Swimmers Claim Title at Interschool Swimming Carnival

On Friday 15 February Tenison Woods College’s elite swimmers travelled to Bordertown for the annual Interschool Swimming Carnival. Held at the Bordertown Memorial Swimming Pool, the day saw Tenison compete against 7 other High Schools from the district.

Four records were broken throughout the day in an incredible effort to maintain the schools title as Interschool Swimming Champions. Hayley Pearson continued to display personal excellence in beating her own record of 32.35 seconds set in 2018 for U/15 50m Butterfly, successively setting a new time of 32.32 seconds. Kiah Connolly persevered throughout the day to claim two new record titles, setting a new time of 29.93 seconds for U/16 Female 50m Freestyle, and a time of 40.21 seconds for U/16 Female 50m Breastroke. Thomas Bignell succeeded in setting a new record of 35.34 seconds for U/15 Male 50m Breastroke, with the previous record being 36.50 seconds, set in 1992.

The conclusion of the day saw Tenison Woods College successfully win the U/15, U/16 and U/20 age group trophies, and furthermore, on a total of 526 points, claimed the title for Interschool Swimming Champions for the fifth year in a row.

OVERALL:

  • Tenison Woods College – 526 points
  • Grant High School – 401 points
  • Bordertown High School – 391 points
  • St Martins Lutheran College – 334 points
  • Mount Gambier High School – 289 points
  • Combined Schools (Millicent, Naracoorte, Penola) – 212 points

AGE GROUP WINNERS:

  • U/14 – Grant High School (109 points)
  • U/15 – Tenison Woods College (161 points)
  • U/16 - Tenison Woods College (125 points)
  • U/20 - Tenison Woods College (138 points)
