2018 DUX and Academic Awards Ceremony

05.02.19

Our first whole school gathering for the year was significant, in that students, parents, families, friends and staff were able to celebrate the academic achievements of our 2018 students.

We welcomed back to the College our 2018 Year 12 students who achieved an ATAR of 80 or higher. This places 40% of last year’s cohort in the top 20% of the state when looking at their academic success.

In particular, we congratulated Courtney De Barro who was given the honour of being declared the College Dux with an ATAR of 98.70.

We were also proud to present a large number of 2018 Year 6 to Year 12 students with an Academic Excellence award.  This recognises their excellence across a range of learning areas, in that they were able to achieve ‘A’ grades in all, or almost all, of their 2018 subjects.

Whilst we are delighted with the academic success of our students, it is also important to affirm all of our students, whether or not they were recognised at the assembly.  So many students worked hard to achieve personal bests in 2018, and to witness their stories of success is satisfying for all involved.

At Tenison Woods College, every learner has a place, every learner has a pathway and every learner will shine. Academic success is only one of many ways in which students can be the best people for the world beyond school.
