2018 Mount Gambier Christmas Parade

21.11.18

Tenison Woods College has stayed true to our Catholic heritage by presenting an evocative display of the birth of Christ, which proclaims the true meaning of Christmas. The float shows ingenious creativity in the double-sided stable design, which has been custom made from recycled materials by the incomparable Keith de Nys.

Over 150 people were engaged in this display, including teachers, parents, grandparents and children of all ages and from all areas of the school.

Participants were dressed as shepherds, cows, sheep and angels. The angels are heralding the birth of Jesus by waving their wands, and we can see people dressed as the main characters from the gospel of Mark and Matthew, including 2 Marys, 2 Josephs and two babies, so that people on both sides of the road had an excellent view of the nativity scene.

The costumes showed a tremendous amount of effort, and were handmade by volunteers from the Parents and Teachers Association, under the guidance of Carmel Alderson. This entry shows exceptional community spirit and is representative of the commitment to collaboration and team building that epitomises the ethos of Tenison Woods College.
