New Fence in preparation for 'Koala Crossing'

31.10.18

You may have noticed that a perimeter fence was installed along Shepherdson Road and White Avenue over the weekend. You will also then have noticed only the one designated entry & exit point.

In both the past and in more recent times, the college has lobbied the Department for Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) to have the speed limit along White Avenue reduced due to the concerns for our students as they navigate their way across the road. Unfortunately we have been unsuccessful on each occasion. However, DPTI, in conjunction with support from the council, did agree to install a ‘Koala’ crossing which would allow refuge for students as they crossed. A proviso of this was that the college install a fence with one entry/exit point that encourages our students to use the crossing to navigate across White Avenue.

If you drop your children off at, or collect them from, White Avenue it would be greatly appreciated if you could direct them towards using the designated entrance to the college oval so that they can familiarise themselves with this practice for when the crossing is installed.
