Japan Trip 2019

10.10.18

We are excited to announce that a delegation from Tenison Woods College has once again been invited to visit Japan, specifically Tamagawa Academy in Tokyo, Shirakawa-Go Eco Institute and the Prefecture of Kanazawa. To this effect, we would like to call for expressions of interest from students and adults of our school community to experience the rich culture of Japan.

Details are as follows:

Dates:  Depart Mount Gambier 13 April 2019, Return 27 April 2019 during the term break

Broad Itinerary:

  • Tokyo (4 nights) including a visit to Tokyo Disneyland and Tamagawa Academy
  • Kanazawa (2 nights)
  • Shirakawa (2 nights) visiting the Shirakawa-Go Eco Institute
  • Kyoto (2 nights)
  • Hiroshima (2 nights)
  • Visit Osaka before flight out

Teachers who will be attending: Annie Clifford (International Student and Homestay Coordinator), Sharon Brodie (Year 8 to 12 teacher) and Trent Eitzen (Year 8 to 12 teacher).

Detailed planning is still being conducted, but the planning cost for students to attend is around $6000 per child which includes all accommodation, flights, internal travel, and some meals. Students need to be 14 years old at the time of departure, and have a suitable level of self-sufficiency and maturity to travel in a group. Students under 14 years of age can attend, however must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Be aware all adult attendees will need appropriate "Working with Children" checks.

If any member of our College community is interested in attending, please complete an Expression of Interest, in writing via email, and submit it to Annie Clifford, clifa@tenison.catholic.edu.au by Thursday 18 October

Tomorrow evening (Thursday 18) an information night will be held at 6.00pm in the Staff Room.

If you are unsure if this trip is suitable for your child, we encourage you to attend the information night to find out more details to confirm your decision, but please still express your interest. A $500 deposit will be due no later than 26 October 2018 to confirm your position in the delegation.

If you would like to know more, details of the 2017 trip can be found here.
