Vocalist Workshop with Will Conyers

19.09.18

On Friday 14 September, the Creative Arts – Musical class, Concert Choir and Senior Vocal Ensemble participated in workshops by Vocalist and Director, Mr Will Conyers. Will has recently accepted the role of Patron- Backstage Incorporated (coordinating group of Mt Gambier Eisteddfod) and was excited to return to share his expertise in a more intimate setting than Eisteddfod critiques. The Creative Arts – Musical class learned about show business pathways and Will’s personal journey on stage and off, culminating in a Q and A session where students could ask his advice. We completed the workshop by performing 2 sections of the developing Alice in Wonderland Jnr musical (Wehl St Theatre, Nov 6 and 7, 7pm) on which Will gave feedback to the ensemble and suggestions for developing the characters further.

After a short break, Will then worked with the Concert Choir and Senior Vocal Ensemble. He shared his expertise on vocal technique and resonance before focusing on learning new music. He then worked with the students on some ideas for staging and performance. It was fantastic to have Will share his experience with our students and we look forward to further collaboration with him as his role as Patron.
