Season of Creation

The Season of Creation spans five weeks between the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation (September 1) and the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi (October 4). This “time for creation” offers, in the words of Pope Francis:

Individual believers and communities a fitting opportunity to reaffirm their personal vocation to be stewards of creation, to thank God for the wonderful handiwork which he has entrusted to our care, and to implore his help for the protection of creation as well as his pardon for the sins committed against the world in which we live.

During the Season of Creation students from across the College will have work on display in the Gathering Space of St Paul’s Church. We would love you to go in and have a look.

Jayne Shortt visit

Today Jayne Shortt, Education Officer from Vinnies SA visited the College. Jayne worked with all of the Year 8 classes, raising awareness of the important work of Vinnies, as well as Social Justice Leaders and School council representatives from across the College. During lunchtime there was a Fashion Parade featuring clothes from our local Crouch Street store with representatives from the local St Vincent DePaul conference joining in the fun. With some great clothes being modelled by staff and students and a huge crowd in attendance, we hope that the sales at Vinnies will increase in the next few weeks with money raised being used to support local people in need.

Thanks to the Middle School Social Justice group and the whole of Class 8C under the leadership of Ms Chris Lloyd for organising this awareness raising event, as well as the sausage sizzle and cake stall that took place to raise funds for Vinnies.
