Year 3-7 Sports Day

11.04.18

On Friday 6 April, Tenison Woods College held the Year 3-7 Sports day at Marist Park. It is a very big day in the sporting calendar and is the culmination of a term’s worth of athletic practice and trialling. Students were treated to a spectacular day, making it even more enjoyable for parents to spectate.

The morning was devoted to track events including 100m sprints, 200m sprints and hurdles. Students raced in divisions decided upon by time trials earlier in the term. After recess the focus was on field events including shot put, discus and long jump.  The Year 6 and 7 students also competed in high jump, while the Year 3-5 students ran a cross country course around the Sugarloaf.  After lunch, the open 400m race was run for each year level, followed by house relays, sprint finals and one of the premier events of the day: House Leaders V Staff relay. This was a very even race until the last leg of the relay where Mr Nick Patzel blew the field away to win comfortably for the staff. The final part of the day consisted of presentations of individual year level champions and the winning team. Every time students entered an event, they received points for both themselves and their house. These points are tallied throughout the course of the day and the final results were:

1.Champagnat (4,171)
2. McAuley (3,593)
3. Woods (3,370)
4. MacKillop (3,196)
