Year 10 T/20 Cricket

04.04.18

The Year 10 Boys T/20 Cricket team travelled to Adelaide on Sunday 25 March to play in the Knockout state tournament finals. The boys kicked off the tournament on Monday morning against arguably the best cricket school in South Australia, Adelaide High School. The game started off in the Titans favour with opening batsmen Connor Prior and Elliott Fisher holding their own against the solid bowling attack of the Adelaide boys. The two openers finished with over 25 runs to their name which left the door open for big hitter Josh Cornolo to come to the crease. Cornolo finished with 36 runs and on the other side finished with 2 wickets also. It was tight down the stretch with the game coming down to the last over. Unfortunately for our boys, Adelaide High had just as strong of a batting side as they did bowling and they were able to beat the total posted by the Titans in the dying seconds. Josh Cornolo was named man of the match with his solid performance on both ends.

The second game went a similar way, with the Titans batting first and coming up against a strong attack from Blackwood High School. Coach Brad Maney elected to change up the batting order to give the opposition a look they may not have been expecting. This left the door open for Hugh Armfield to leave his mark on the game. Armfield finished with an impressive 50 runs for the game, topping the run tally from anyone on the day. This meant the Titans boys again sat in a good position to hold on to the win in the second game. Some good bowling from Captain Connor Prior looked to all but confirm a Tenison win but to the credit of a strong Blackwood team we were unable to hold off a late game flurry and ended up losing the game in the last few overs. Man of the match for the second game went to Hugh Armfield.

Well done to the Year 10 boys who all put in a fantastic effort during the tournament.
