Fifth Sunday of Lent

A reminder that during Lent we are asking for your help to raise money through Project Compassion. By doing so, your donation can help communities all around the world.

12-year-old Ditosa in Mozambique is cared for by her grandmother after her parents died of AIDS related illnesses. Thanks to Caritas Australia’s support, Ditosa has now graduated from school with plans for university.

Please donate to Project Compassion 2018 and help young women like Ditosa to grow up with an education, confidence and hope, providing them with a just future.

A just future starts with your support!

Distributing Eggs

Please keep in mind as we approach the Easter season that we are in Lent or Holy Week until Easter Sunday. Themes during this time are PRAYER, FASTING and GIVING. On Easter Sunday we move into the joyful season of Easter which is 50 days of CELEBRATING.

The giving of easter eggs is discouraged until Easter when we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ. When considered in light of the school year, this means we would encourage students who would like to give something to their friends at school, to do so after the Easter break rather than before.

Project Compassion Fundraising

As we approach Easter and Project Compassion draws to a close we thank all staff, students and families who have given generously to this appeal for Caritas through fundraising at school, in classes or in homes. Project Compassion boxes are to be returned to the College or the Church. We ask that all boxes are returned by the end of Term 1 to allow the donations to be sent to Caritas.

Anyone wishing to make an online donation or to donate what is in their PC box electronically, we encourage you to go to the Tenison Woods College page on the Caritas fundraising page.

Masses for Holy Week and Easter

Please click here to see the Holy Week and Easter timetable for all the parishes in the South East Deanery. We encourage all families to celebrate all our Holy Week and Easter ceremonies so as to experience deeply the saving presence of Christ among us.

Stations of the Cross

On Friday 23 March, the Junior School will be leading the Stations of the Cross at St Paul’s Church from 6:30pm to 7:00pm. This will be a simplified, mimed presentation so children of all ages can be involved and follow what is happening. Families are encouraged to attend in preparedness for Holy Week and Easter.

Family Mass

This Sunday 25 March, there is a Family Mass at 11:00am. This is Palm Sunday and marks the beginning of Holy Week. Children will be involved in leading the singing and taking part in the readings. It would be great to see a large number of families at Mass to signify the importance of the start of Holy Week.

Parish Mass at Tenison Woods College

Mass is celebrated in the Tenison Woods College Chapel every Thursday at 9:00am during term time. All members of the community are invited to attend. Each week the mass is attended and led by a different year level from across the College. Below is the roster for the coming weeks:

  • Week 9 (Holy Week) – Thursday 29 March – No Mass (Holy Thursday)
  • Week 10 (Joy Week) – Thursday 5 April – Year 9
  • Week 11 - Thursday 12 April – Year 7 (Please note change of date from week 8)
