Year 8-12 Athletics Carnival

28.02.18

On the Thursday and Friday of Week 4, students in Year’s 8 to 12 gathered at Marist Park for the annual Athletics Carnival. The carnival highlights traditional events such as running, long jump, high jump, discus, javelin etc. but also adds novelty events such as tug-of-war, plank relays, sack races and more.

The highlight for most on Thursday was the Tug-of-war competition which saw teams of 12 students from each grade compete against College staff in the event. The final was once again between the Year 12’s and staff. The battle was fierce, but in the end the teachers won the best of three format.

Friday’s events began with the popular ‘progressive relay’, where students from reception to Year 12 competed in their respective house colours. To wrap up the carnival, the last event was the staff versus student relay with the students taking the win. College captain Daniel Ker crossed the finish line only 5-metres in front of Year 10 Wellbeing & PLP Coordinator David Cole, giving the students the win.

Congratulations to MacKillop who were eventual winners with 4480 points and going back-to-back carnival champions.
