Champagnat Champs at 8-12 Swimming Carnival

The Year 8-12 Swimming Carnival took place on Thursday of week 3 and was a highly successful day. Held annually at the Mount Gambier Aquatic Centre, conditions weren’t favourable with rain and strong winds challenging all competitors. Rough weather aside, students and spectators saw some of the fastest times posted in years!

Champagnat was the winning house with a total score of 1,731 points, second place was McAuley with 1,523 points, Mackillop in third with 1,339 points and finally Woods with 1,144 points.

The age group champions for the day were;

  • U/14 Female – Hayley Pearson, McAuley (94 points)
  • U/14 Male – Thomas Bignell, McAuley (92 points)
  • U/15 Female – Kiah Connolly, McAuley (114 points)
  • U/15 Male – Archie Muller, Champagnat (120 points)
  • U/16 Female – Hannah Elliot, Champagnat (72 points)
  • U/16 Male – Daniel O’Callaghan, Champagnat (94 points)
  • U/20 Female – Charlotte Smith, Woods (110 points)
  • U/20 Male – James Gazzard, Champagnat (110 points)

  • F U/15 50m Butterfly - Hayley Pearson 33.31 (2017 Hayley Pearson 34.06)
  • F U/20 50m Backstroke - Jaime Spicer 35.19 (2014 Emily Gazzard 35.94)
  • M U/20 4x50m Medley Relay - Champagnat 2:26.57 (2006 McAuley 2:47:07)
  • F U/20 4x50m Freestyle Relay - Woods 2:30.53 (2016 Champagnat 2:36.69)
