4 - 7 Swimming Carnival

21.02.18

On Friday 16 February, the Year 4-7 Twilight Swimming Carnival took place at the Mount Gambier Aquatic Centre.

As in previous years, the carnival started in the afternoon, so students finished classes at lunch time and then caught a bus to the Aquatic Centre for a 2:30pm start. While the majority of students took part in only novelty events and free swim, students with an interest or talent in competitive swimming competed in heats for freestyle, backstroke, breastroke and butterfly.

We have a very strong cohort of swimmers and there were some great times. One of the main reasons for our swimming carnival is to find students who qualify for SAPSASA swimming.  The top few boys and girls in each year level, in each event, have been invited to take part in the SAPSASA District Swimming Day on Thursday 22 February.

Our swimming carnival ended with an hour and a half of free swim, wrapping up at 5:30pm. The weather was great and everyone seemed to really enjoy the heats, novelty events and free swimming.

A big thank you to the Aquatic Centre for accommodating us, parents who came to watch and support their children and all those people who helped in some way with setup and pack up.
