Melanoma March

08.03.17

Tenison Woods College was a proud supporter of the inaugural Melanoma March held on Sunday 5 March. Year 12 Students, supported by Chloe Shanahan and Faith Leader Laura Turley volunteered on the day manning stalls and making up the Melanoma March registration bags.

The Timor Leste Immersion Team ran the barbecue supported by Bernadette Fisher. Bec Hudson added atmosphere to the event with music and entertainment with Ellyana Sims and Aimee Black. Ellyana sang an emotional song during the Commemorative Ceremony which enabled families to put a leaf on the Hope Tree to remember those who had passed away. Other staff members also supported the event in various ways. Olympic Basketballer and event ambassador Rachael Sporn spoke highly of the support given by Tenison Woods College and also spent time after the event mentoring Titans Girls High Performance Basketball Team members.

The Melanoma March raised funds and highlighted our unique and special community at Tenison Woods College who follow Mary MacKillop's saying, “never see a need without doing something about it”.

Tenison Woods College respectfully acknowledges the Boandik people are the First Nations people of the Mount Gambier South Eastern region of South Australia and pay respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, past, present and emerging.
