MacKillop wins 8 - 12 Athletics Carnival

27.02.17

For the first time in seven years, MacKillop dominated the 8-12 Athletics Carnival at Marist Park on Thursday 23 and Friday 24 February 2017, scoring 5,074 points.

After last year’s success, the Athletics Carnival was again based on participation, encouraging students to have a go at all the events.

The highly anticipated top eight shootout didn't disappoint, showcasing the fastest eight males and females within the Tenison Woods College sporting field. After a tough run to the finish line, Eliza Hunter and Declan Carmody won the 100m sprint against their competitors with times of 13.62 and 12.26 respectively.

The novelties began with the tug of war relay. Each year level fought against one another for the cup, however the staff (defending champions) managed to use their strength against the Year 12s and win the cup once again. Other novelty events included the tunnel ball relay, sack relay and plank relay.
