8-9 and Open Girls Soccer

23.06.21

Yesterday, Tuesday 22 June, the Year 8/9 and Open Girls soccer teams competed in their local rounds to advance to the next round in Adelaide.

The 8/9 girls team started the day against St Martin’s Lutheran College. With the first goal for Tenison Woods College scored in the opening 10 seconds of the game. Tenison proved to be too much for St Martin’s with our girls winning 2-0. The open girls then suited up, playing St Martin’s in their first game, where some skilled kicking from Tenison Woods College won the game 4-1. Moving to the finals, the open girls matched up against Mount Gambier High School. After a slow start, where the ball was moving back and forth between the two sides, Tenison Woods College moved away and scored three goals, beating Mount Gambier High School 3-0.

Goal Scorers:

8/9 Girls: Isla Dickson
Open Girls: Kiah Connolly, Emma O’Callaghan, Emma Lang, Isla Dickson and Sophie Alexander

Best Players:

8/9 Girls: Isabella Morello, Bayley Berkefeld and Isla Dickson

Congratulations to both teams who have now advanced to the next round in Adelaide to be played next Term. Thank you to Mr Dickson for coaching and Mr Fleetwood for his refereeing on the day.
