Port Adelaide Football Club Visit

05.05.21

Former AFL player Alipate Carlile (167 AFL Port Adelaide FC matches 2006 -2016), now the Port Adelaide Football club Multicultural Programs Manager, along with Braedon Talbot, PAFC Community Programs Manager – Aboriginal, conducted a highly enjoyable coaching clinic for Tenison Woods College students with culturally diverse backgrounds. The clinic formed stage one of a dedicated talent identification program that encourages students to participate in the sport and join pathways for future involvement.

Following the visit, students have been invited to participate in a fully funded carnival experience in Adelaide. Leading up to the clinic, students have completed a guernsey design representing local traditions and cultures which will be worn at the carnival.

Further experiences include an Intercultural Leadership Forum, opportunities to connect with other schools and opportunities for self-development, job opportunities and work experience that may be created within the AFL network. In addition, the Year 9/10 High Performance Football class also enjoyed a clinic with core skill drills and modified games. GO POWER!
