Emily Turley

I commenced my schooling at Tenison Woods College as a Reception student in 2006. The school means a lot to me and I greatly value the many relationships that I have developed with many different people over the last 12 years. I am a determined student, always striving to do my best in school but also in being the best person I can be.

I have always aspired to be school captain since a very young age, as leadership has run through my family. I have always looked up to the school captains each year and now I have the chance to be someone the younger students can look up to. As captains, we are a voice for the students of our school and work hard to keep Tenison Woods College the best school it can be.

I have a passion for music and I love to sing. I have been a part of the Senior Vocal Ensemble and Concert Choir. I also love the outdoors and adventure. Outside of school I have played junior and senior netball for Tantanoola Netball Club and tennis for West Gambier Tennis Club I work part time for Baker’s Delight and absolutely love it.

My biggest passion and most important thing to me is my family. My parents teach me important life values and morals such as kindness, respect and to be driven and have purpose. I have an older sister who was a former student and faith leader here. I also have a younger brother who is currently in year 9. Through my mother and sister, I have gained a very strong faith which is my core value that I live by every day.

I travelled to Italy in 2018 with the school exchange and it was the trip of a lifetime. It definitely gave me the travel bug and now I want to see every part of the world.

In the future, I hope to study a degree in criminal psychology and with my degree either work in private practice or join the Police force.

I look forward to working with my co-captain James who I have a strong friendship with. I am also keen to liaise with the other school leaders, sport, music, faith, wellbeing and sustainability and the staff members that will encourage and work with us throughout the year.

I truly take immense pride in our school and through being school captain, I will uphold the values and be a role model encouraging my fellow students to ‘let their light shine through faith and action’...
