8/9 Soccer State Champions

Tenison Woods College qualified for the State Finals in Year 8 and 9 Soccer which was held in Adelaide on Friday 13 September. The boys faced a tough draw with a semi-final against Faith College from the Barossa Valley. The team found their feet quickly and were moving the ball around with speed and

precision, creating a number of good chances that should have resulted
in goals. In the second half the domination continued and we ran out
eventual winners 4-2, which meant we moved on to the State Final against a strong Mount Gambier High School. In the final the boys dominated the game from start to finish, limiting the opposition to 1 shot on goal for the whole game, with some more clinical finishing, the game could have been won by a much larger margin. With the score tied at 0-0 at half time the game was tense but the boys continued to control the game, had all the possession and
eventually scored late and ran out winners 1-0, to claim the State
Championship for Year 8 and 9 Soccer. It was a huge effort from Tenison Woods College and something as a coach I was extremely proud to be part of.
