Tenison Woods College asks R U OK?

19.09.19

Last Thursday, Students and Staff showed a huge amount of support, raising awareness for the R U OK? message.

Student leaders across the College held before-school and lunchtime activities, ranging from pledge tables and face
painting to a Staff vs Students basketball match. The College Rock Bands provided live music for the events, adding to the positive atmosphere. headspace Mount Gambier came along during lunchtime, to raise awareness of the service they provide.

Staff asked R U OK? by taking part in a ‘Kris Kringle’ type activity, providing each other with a small gift or gesture, from a bunch of flowers to a coffee. These gifts were welcomed and appreciated.

The College’s wonderful Hospitality Academy students baked trays of R U OK? Cupcakes that were gifted to staff for
morning tea.

Plenty of other activities took place throughout the day, including a Kindness Wall in the Junior School and the Year 12’s and their Reception Buddies spending some time together.

The Year 11’s also had guest speakers Lily Coote and Lucy Williams (past scholars) sharing their stories along with a panel of community counsellors including Tracey Wanganeen (Stand By), Sophie Coote (STTARS), Catherine (Focus One) and Rita Zaccardo from CAHMS that answered questions on how to best support and check in with their friends. Today - and every day - we’re encouraging everyone to Trust the Signs, Trust your Gut & Ask R U OK?
