Titans SAPSASA State Champions

Titans Take Out SAPSASA State Title

27.09.17

Last week the Tenison Woods College Titans SAPSASA 6/7 girls’ basketball team travelled to Adelaide to compete at the 2017 State Championships.

The morning started off with a bang with great results against Eyre Peninsula and St Francis Xavier respectively and great optimism from the group moving forward in the day.

We continued the day with three more brilliant results defeating Paringa Park, Tanunda LS and Highgate leaving us 6-0 moving forward into the last game where a win would send us through to a State Final.

The last game within pool A was against Craigburn Primary who were also undefeated for the day.  The Craigburn game started off with intensity from both teams trading baskets early but the huge individual performance from Ellie Bouchier was too much for Craigburn. Ellie scored 30 points and didn’t miss a shot while leading the offence like a true point guard and also marking the best player for Craigburn and keeping her scoreless.

Onto the State Final against pool B winners Marryatville. It was a tightly fought game in the early stages with both teams trading foul shots but we wouldn’t be denied.  Our attention to defense and full court trap worked wonders with Marryatville struggling to get a field goal finishing the game with 3 points total.

10-3 was the final score with Tenison victorious in the SAPSASA state final continuing our tradition of winning the SAPSASA tournament.

I would like to thank all the young ladies involved and what a performance. All the girls represented the school with pride and were great representatives for Mount Gambier and Tenison Woods College.

I would also like to thank Morgan Fisher and Megan Mackin for coming away on the trip and helping make everything perfect for the girls throughout the two days.
