After School Mini Makers Club

We are very excited to begin a new initiative in Term 2, 2017 – the Tenison Woods College Mini Makers Club. This is an opportunity for children to participate in a range of problem based activities using a variety of skills such as; collaboration and group work, designing, creating, evaluating, modifying and re-evaluating.

Music Camp

For three days last week, over 60 excited music students went to Nelson for the first Music Camp of the year. Students from Concert Band, Big Band, Thunder Drum Corps, Concert Choir, Brass Ensemble, Saxophone Quartet, Woodwind Ensemble and Senior Vocal Ensemble enjoyed three days of team building, rehearsals and performances.

NAPLAN Testing

In Term 2 the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests will be held throughout Australia for all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. All tests, except Year 3 Writing, will be done online at Tenison Woods College this year. The test window is longer this year and is from Tuesday 9 May to Friday 19 May.

CIM Team News

Each Friday during Lent, Stations of the Cross will be held in St Paul’s Church at 6:00pm. Families or individuals are invited to attend any of these. This Friday 17 March, Stations will be led by staff and students of the Middle and Senior schools. It would be great to see lots of people come along to pray at this contemporary version of the Stations.

Staff vs Student Cricket Match

The mercury tipped 30 degrees for the fourth Students vs Staff and Parents Cricket match held on the school oval on Wednesday 8 March. Year 12 music student Sarah Harrap gave a rousing rendition of the anthem before the students, led by Liam Neshoda, elected to put the staff in to bat first.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest to be part of an e-Smart committee. The e-smart school framework was developed by the Alannah and Madeline Foundation. It is a holistic approach to changing the behaviour of information and communications technology users.
